What do you do for Air?
Our Fire Proof shelters or Fire Bunkers are air-tight to defend the quality of the air within and stop smoke leaching within. There’s generous amount of air in our Fire shelter to sustain safe and comfy respiring level for four to five adults for over four hours.
It is doubtful you would ever be in your Fire Bunker longer than thirty to forty minutes.
PLEASE NOTE : Never employ a tank with pure oxygen in any form, this is both deadly if the concentration of oxygen raises too high and creates a Massive Fire and Explosion Risk!
Am I able to get trapped inside?
we intend to only install a Fire Proof shelters AWAY from structures and trees that can fall. We won’t install one under a structure under any circumstances. If branches present a probable problem they might need to be trimmed.
What if it is still burning outside my Fire Bunker after forty minutes?
we won’t install a Fire shelter in any position or location that may lead to a lengthened burn near to the exit. If there’s the likelihood of tiny branches falling close to the exit, and burning, we may advise you to have a fire extinguisher as a part of your Fire shelter or Fire Bunker items list.
Can I cook within the Fire Proof Shelter?
No, the Fire shelter is installed underground at a minmum 300mm under the surface making certain the temperature cannot rise seriously within the your Fire Proof Shelter. The encompassing earth not only insulates you from the heat, but actively cools the Fire shelter and the air inside.
Does the door warp and jam closed?
No, the doors on our Fire Proof Shelters are Purpose built FIRE DOORS rated at 4 Hours to Australian standards, we won’t install a Fire Bunker where the door will be exposed to lengthened heat. They’re either below ground & fire level, or guarded by earth ( in the case of side entry shelters ).
Can I get vents with filters?
Vents will permit air to be sucked out quickly when the fire front is on you and use up the breathable air, and then the shelter will breathe in drawing smoke and heat into the shelter. Poorly placed manmade filters can melt at that point and poison the occupants with poisonous smoke.
Can the youngsters use it as a Play house?
NO, the Fire Proof Shelter is airtight and kids MUST be overseen at every point. You’ll need to fasten the shelter if your kids are of an age where they can not understand the danger.
Do you dig the hole?
We will prepare for the hole to be dug if need be ; usually we ask you to organise a local excavation contractor to do the digging. Ensure you ask us how large your hole should be before you start!
